Delaware residents may soon feel more pressure on their monthly budgets as Delmarva Power customers are expected to see increases in both electric and natural gas bills in the coming months.
According to recent reports, Delmarva Power customers in Delaware will see a temporary increase in electric supply rates beginning June 1, 2026. The average residential customer could see bills rise by around 9%, depending on usage.
Natural gas customers are also expected to see an increase. A 5% gas cost adjustment is scheduled to take effect in May, largely due to higher customer usage during the previous winter season
Why Are Bills Increasing?
The reported electric increase is tied to higher regional energy supply costs, while the gas adjustment reflects seasonal demand and supply-related expenses.
In addition, Delmarva Power has also proposed a separate rate adjustment to help fund future infrastructure upgrades and system improvements. That request is still under review by regulators.
